90s Album: Bee Thousand by Guided by Voices

Bee Thousand

This album is from the 90s. It is the seventh album by the band Guided by Voices. The American indie rock band was originated from Dayton, Ohio. This 90s album was released June 21, 1994 under Scat Records.

After its release, Bee Thousand Album was unexpectedly received a relatively huge amount of attention within indie and alternative rock circles. The band have been associated w/ an indie rock genre known as "lo-fi" due to the 90s album inferior fidelity. It is a movement defined by its poor recording quality. But despite of this, the Bee Thousand Album was considered a masterpiece and an essential independent rock album of the 90s.

My favorite songs here are "Hardcore UFO's", "Buzzards and Dreadful Crows", and "Tractor Rape Chain". Other songs from this 90s album are "The Goldheart Mountaintop Queen Directory", "Hot Freaks" (R. Pollard, Tobin Sprout), "Smothered in Hugs" (Mitch Mitchell, J. Pollard, R. Pollard), "Yours to Keep", "Echos Myron" "Gold Star for Robot Boy", "Awful Bliss" (Sprout), "Mincer Ray" (Sprout), "A Big Fan of the Pigpen" (Randy Campbell, J. Pollard, R. Pollard), "Queen of Cans and Jars", "Her Psychology Today" (Mitchell, J. Pollard, R. Pollard, Sprout), "Kicker of Elves", "Ester's Day" (Sprout), "Demons Are Real" (Mitchell, J. Pollard, R. The hip hop producer/ rapper Dr. Dre's production is remark for founding and popularizing the G-funk sub-genre within gangsta rap.

The Chronic hip hop album reached the #3 on the Billboard 200. It also sold over 3M copies, which led to him on the list of top ten best-selling American performing music artists of the year 1993.
